Our programmes
Are either one-day or three-day long. They involve primary and secondary school students, and are assessed by visiting students and teachers.
The actual programmes are based on the principles of environmental education, so that they:
approach the environment in an holistic way
implement an interdisciplinary method based on experience
place great emphasis on active participation, group work, on creative thought and the significance of having a critical mind, on democratic ideals, in others words, on a full-scale participation of the students themselves.
More specifically, the objectives of our programmes are:
- To inform students and citizens about the natural and artificial (human-made) environment of the region, through the four poles of society, economy, culture, environment.
- To educate students and citizens, in order that their knowledge and skills entail an environment-friendly code of behaviour.
- To raise awareness through a method of knowledge based on experience, that encourages having a critical mind, as well as assuming direct action.
- To encourage trainees to be more responsible and to take action towards the preservation and sustainability of the environment.
