About Us
The Environmental Education Centre of Naoussa was founded in October 1999, as part of the educational structure of the Hellenic Ministry of Education, Lifelong Learning and Religious Affairs. The Centre is funded by the National Strategic Reference Framework and is technically and financially supported by the National Youth Foundation. The Regional Administration of Education of Central Macedonia supervises the operation and activities of the Centre.
The E.E.C. is located in the Student Residence Hall of Naoussa, which is provided by the National Youth Foundation, while a large part of the Residence Hall is used by the Police Academy of Naoussa. The building facilities of the National Youth Foundation accommodate student groups who participate in one-day and three-day educational programmes, that take place in the natural environment of mountain Vermion, along the river Arapitsa, in the rural fields of the region and the urban space of Naoussa.
More specifically, for the needs of the Centre, the National Youth Foundation provides three offices for the teachers, a large library, a classroom for the realization of pre-school and early primary-school educational programmes, a multi-use room for older primary-school and secondary-school students, a laboratory, a recreation room, a storage room, eight six-bed dormitories and a two-bed room, a cafeteria/ dining room, as well as several auxiliary rooms.
